Jeremy Thompson: podcast appearances and interviews

Jeremy Gordon Thompson, born on 23 September 1947, is an English journalist, news anchor, and author. He has had a distinguished career in broadcast journalism, beginning his career at the Cambridge Evening News in 1967. In 1971, he joined the BBC as a reporter on Radio Sheffield before advancing to become a reporter on BBC Look North Leeds. Thompson was appointed as the BBC's first TV North of England Correspondent in 1977. He subsequently worked for ITN as a Sports Correspondent starting in 1982 and served as a TV foreign correspondent from 1986 to 1998, with initial assignments in Asia and Africa. In 1993, he transitioned to Sky News where he became head of its Africa bureau based in Johannesburg. Two years later, Thompson established Sky's first US bureau in Washington, D.C. He is well known for his role as a news presenter for Sky News, particularly hosting the flagship program Live at Five from 1999 until his retirement at the end of 2016. Aside from his journalism career, Thompson is affiliated with the Special Operations Association of America, reflecting his broader interests and engagements in the field of national security and special operations.
