Jenny Slate, born on March 25, 1982, is an American actress, stand-up comedian, and writer. She began her career with early acting and stand-up roles on television, gaining recognition through her live variety shows in New York City. Slate co-created the children's short film and book series Marcel the Shell with Shoes On from 2010 to 2014, alongside Dean Fleischer Camp, to whom she was married from 2012 to 2016. Her appearance on the 35th season of Saturday Night Live in 2009 marked her entrance into mainstream television. She also appeared in multiple sitcoms including Bob's Burgers, Parks and Recreation, House of Lies, and Kroll Show between 2012 and 2015. In film, her leading role in Gillian Robespierre's Obvious Child in 2014 garnered her the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy, establishing her as a notable figure in independent cinema.
