Jeffrey R. Holland: podcast appearances and interviews

Jeffrey Roy Holland was an American educator and religious leader affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from October 14, 2025, until his death in December 2025, and was recognized by the church as a prophet, seer, and revelator. Holland was also the ninth president of Brigham Young University and held the position of acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from November 15, 2023, until September 27, 2025, following the dissolution of the First Presidency after the death of church president Russell M. Nelson. At the time of his death, he was the second most senior apostle in the church. Born and raised in St. George, Utah, Holland pursued higher education at Dixie College before serving as a missionary in Great Britain. After his mission, he transferred to BYU, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in religious education. He later obtained a second master's degree and a PhD in American studies from Yale University. In 1974, he was appointed dean of religious education at BYU, and in 1976 he became the eleventh commissioner of the Church Educational System, succeeding Neal A. Maxwell. Holland then became BYU's ninth president in 1980, succeeding Dallin H. Oaks. His career encompassed significant leadership roles within the LDS Church and higher education.
