Jeanine Pirro is a Lebanese-American lawyer, television host, and author who has been serving as the United States attorney for the District of Columbia since May 2025. She has previously held positions as a judge and prosecutor in New York, where she was elected as a judge of the Westchester County Court in 1990 and subsequently as the district attorney of Westchester County in 1993. Pirro was the first woman elected to either of these roles and was re-elected in 1997 and 2001. Her work as district attorney focused on cases involving domestic abuse and crimes against the elderly. Pirro has also pursued a political career, briefly seeking the Republican nomination for the United States Senate in 2006 and running as the Republican candidate for New York Attorney General in the same year, although she lost the election to Democrat Andrew Cuomo. Beyond her legal career, she hosted the television show Judge Jeanine Pirro on The CW from 2008 to 2011 and Justice with Judge Jeanine on Fox News from 2011 to 2022. She has authored seven books including Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy. Pirro made false claims of voting machine fraud following the 2020 presidential election and was involved in related litigation, including defamation lawsuits against her and Fox News. President Donald Trump appointed her as the interim United States attorney for the District of Columbia in May 2025, and she was sworn in later that month and confirmed in August.
