Jerold Taylor Jay Wright Jr. is an American professional who serves as a Tax Partner in the US National Tax, Accounting and Risk Advisory Services Practice at Ernst & Young LLP. Born on December 24, 1961, he has established a notable career in the field of accounting and tax advisory services. Prior to his professional career in finance, Wright was a highly accomplished college basketball coach, serving as the head coach of Villanova University from 2001 until 2022. During his tenure, he led the Wildcats to six Big East Conference championships and 16 NCAA tournament appearances over 21 seasons. His coaching achievements include reaching four Final Fours and winning two national championships in 2016 and 2018. Wright’s early involvement in basketball started as a four-year player at Bucknell University, followed by assistant coaching positions at the University of Rochester and Drexel University. In 1987, he returned to Villanova as an assistant under Hall of Fame coach Rollie Massimino, contributing to the program before moving on to coach at Hofstra University from 1994 to 2001, where he led the team to NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001. In recognition of his contributions to basketball, Wright was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class.
