Jason Forrest: podcast appearances and interviews

Jason Forrest is an American electronic music producer recognized for his experimental approach to electronica and breakcore. His work often incorporates mash-up techniques and rock and roll influences, primarily created through digital sampling of found sounds and other artists' music. Forrest's stage performances and productions are largely produced on a single computer. Previously, he recorded under the name Donna Summer as a nod to disco singer Donna Summer, but he has stated that there is no actual connection to the pop artist. Forrest has a background in photography, holding a BA degree, and has worked professionally as an artist and art critic for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His music has been released on numerous labels, including Sonig, Irritant Records, Omeko, MeWe le Disque, Mirex, Brooklyn Beats, and HOSS Records. Notable achievements include the recognition of his music videos, with the 'Steppin Off' video being named music video of the year by RES magazine in 2005 and 'War Photographer' earning similar accolades in 2006. These videos have received international awards and are widely viewed and acclaimed. His work features samples from a range of artists including Laurie Anderson, The Who, Supertramp, Steely Dan, Joe Jackson, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Pat Benatar, reflecting his interest in artistic appropriation and recontextualizing popular culture from past decades. Forrest has lived in South Carolina, Atlanta, New York City, and as of 2009, resides in Berlin.
