James Mercer: podcast appearances and interviews

James Russell Mercer, born on December 26, 1970, is an American singer-songwriter and musician known for his role as the founding member and lead vocalist of the indie rock band The Shins. He serves as the group's lead songwriter and is the only remaining original member of the band. In addition to his work with The Shins, Mercer co-founded the side project Broken Bells in 2009 with producer Danger Mouse. The project has released several albums, including a self-titled debut in 2010, After the Disco in 2014, and Into the Blue in 2022. Beyond his music career, Mercer has also pursued acting, appearing in Matt McCormick's feature film Some Days Are Better Than Others, which premiered in 2010. Aside from his musical pursuits, Mercer is associated with Mercer Skincare.
