James Hankins: podcast appearances and interviews

James Hankins, born in 1955, is an American intellectual historian with a focus on the Italian Renaissance. He is currently serving as a visiting professor of humanities at the Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education at the University of Florida. Hankins has also held positions as a professor of history at Harvard University and has contributed to several scholarly roles, including being the general editor of the I Tatti Renaissance Library and the associate editor of the Catalogus Translationum et Commentariorum. In addition, he has engaged in research as a visiting fellow at the University of Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture. Hankins's work has been recognized with the Paul Oskar Kristeller Lifetime Achievement Award from the Renaissance Society of America in 2012. He announced his departure from Harvard University in December 2025, citing concerns about the institution's commitment to teaching the history of Western civilization, and transitioned to his current role at the University of Florida.
