Isaiah Jamar Thomas is an American former professional basketball player and current scout for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. Born on February 7, 1989, he played three years of college basketball for the Washington Huskies, earning three all-conference selections in the Pac-10. After choosing to forgo his senior year, Thomas was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the final pick of the 2011 NBA draft. He spent three seasons with the Kings before joining the Phoenix Suns in 2014 and was traded to the Boston Celtics in February 2015. During his time with the Celtics from 2015 to 2017, he became a notable figure, earning two NBA All-Star selections and being named second-team All-NBA. In the 2016–17 season, he led the team to the first seed in the Eastern Conference, maintained the league's third-highest points-per-game average, and finished fifth in MVP voting. Thomas's career was significantly affected by a right hip injury sustained during that season, which led to a trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers in August 2017. The injury hampered his performance in the subsequent seasons, during which he played for several teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Hornets, and again with the Suns. He also had multiple stints in the NBA G League.
