Isaac Fitzgerald is an American writer and author known for his 2022 memoir Dirtbag, Massachusetts. Born in Boston and having spent much of his childhood in Athol, Massachusetts, Fitzgerald has established a diverse career in the literary and media fields. He joined The Rumpus, a literary magazine, as its first employee in 2009, shortly after its founding by Stephen Elliott. During his time there, he published essays from notable writers such as Roxane Gay and Cheryl Strayed. After four years at The Rumpus, Fitzgerald moved to McSweeney's, taking on the role of director of publicity. In 2013, he became the first book editor at BuzzFeed and hosted a live morning show titled AM to DM with Saeed Jones. Fitzgerald is also the author of the children's book How to Be a Pirate and is recognized for his frequent appearances on The Today Show, where he shares book recommendations. His work spans memoir, children's literature, and media engagement, reflecting his broad interests and contributions to contemporary literature.
