Howard Matthew Moses Long, born on January 6, 1960, is a retired American football player who served as a defensive end in the National Football League for 13 seasons, primarily with the Raiders franchise. He played college football for the Villanova Wildcats and was selected in the second round of the 1981 NFL draft by the Raiders. Long spent his first season in Oakland and the rest of his career in Los Angeles. During his playing days, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. He was a key contributor to the team’s victory in Super Bowl XVIII and was later inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Following his retirement from professional football, Long transitioned into acting and broadcasting. He currently works as a studio analyst for Fox Sports' NFL coverage, providing insights and commentary on the game.
