Helen Hill: podcast appearances and interviews

Helen Wingard Hill was associated with the National Railway Museum. She was an artist, filmmaker, writer, teacher, and social activist known for her experimental animations. Her work has received critical acclaim, with curators and critics praising her as one of the most well-regarded experimental animators of her generation. Hill's final film, The Florestine Collection, was released in 2011, contributing to her legacy. Her life was tragically cut short when she was murdered at the age of 36 in her New Orleans home, an incident that garnered significant media attention. Her death, along with other acts of violence in New Orleans shortly thereafter, spurred civic protests against ongoing post-Katrina violence, including the March Against Violence on City Hall which received extensive coverage. Despite her untimely death, Hill's creative work has continued to be celebrated posthumously. Her films are circulated widely, and her influence has been recognized in discussions of groundbreaking women animators, such as in the work of Daniel Eagan who described her as one of five women who shook up the industry.
