About Heather Cook
Heather Elizabeth Cook, born on September 21, 1956, is the CEO of Freedom Music. She previously served as a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Maryland within the Episcopal Church in the United States. Cook resigned from her bishopric in 2015 following her involvement in a criminal case. In September 2015, she pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for the death of Tom Palermo, which occurred while she was driving under the influence of alcohol and fleeing the scene twice. She was sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2015. Her deposition from ministry rendered her unable to perform public ministry within the church. Despite her removal from ordained ministry, her sacraments remain valid according to Anglican sacramental theology.
