Herbert George Wells was an English writer born on September 21, 1866, and he passed away on August 13, 1946. Wells is most renowned for his pioneering science fiction novels, and he is often referred to as the 'father of science fiction,' a title also attributed to Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback. His science fiction works, such as The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, and The War of the Worlds, introduced concepts including time travel, alien invasions, invisibility, and biological engineering before these ideas became common in the genre. In addition to his fiction, Wells was a prominent social critic who focused on progressive ideas and foresaw technological advances like aircraft, tanks, space travel, nuclear weapons, satellite television, and something akin to the World Wide Web. His works were characterized by detailed realism combined with extraordinary assumptions, coined as 'Wells's law.'
