Geno Smith is an American professional football quarterback who has played for various teams in the National Football League. He played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers, earning first-team All-Big East honors in 2011. Smith was selected by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. He spent his first two seasons as the Jets' starter; however, inconsistent play and injuries led to him being benched and eventually released in 2016. Following his tenure with the Jets, Smith served as a backup for the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers over the next two seasons.

In 2019, Smith joined the Seattle Seahawks, initially as a backup, but became the team's starter three years later. His performance during that season was notable as he led the Seahawks to the playoffs, achieved the highest completion percentage in the league, and was named Comeback Player of the Year. He also earned Pro Bowl honors and was recognized with a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection in 2023. Amid a contract dispute, Smith was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, where he faced challenges during his single season with the team. He then rejoined the New York Jets the following year, continuing his professional football career.
