Elliott Gould is an American actor born on August 29, 1938. He gained recognition with his role in the film Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice in 1969, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 1970, he starred as Capt. Trapper John McIntyre in the film M*A*S*H directed by Robert Altman, a performance that garnered BAFTA Award and Golden Globe Award nominations. Gould maintained a working relationship with Altman through subsequent films such as The Long Goodbye in 1973 and California Split in 1974. His notable filmography includes roles in Getting Straight, Little Murders, The Touch, A Bridge Too Far, Capricorn One, The Silent Partner, Bugsy, American History X, Contagion, and Ruby Sparks. He is also known for portraying Reuben Tishkoff in the Ocean's film series, appearing in four installments from 2001 to 2018. Gould is a member of Saturday Night Live's Five Timers' Club, having hosted the show six times between 1976 and 1980. On television, he is recognized for his recurring roles as Jack Geller on the NBC sitcom Friends, which ran from 1994 to 2004, and as Ezra Goldman in the Showtime series Ray Donovan from 2013 to 2016.
