Edward James Begley Jr. is an American actor and environmentalist born on September 16, 1949. He has appeared in numerous films, series, and plays throughout his career. He gained prominence for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series St. Elsewhere, which aired from 1982 to 1988. This role earned him six consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations as well as a Golden Globe Award nomination. Begley has also co-hosted the green living reality show Living with Ed alongside his wife Rachelle Carson from 2007 to 2010. His recurring television roles include Clifford Main in Better Call Saul from 2016 to 2022 and Dr. Grant Linkletter in Young Sheldon from 2019 to 2024. In film, Begley appeared in titles such as Blue Collar, An Officer and a Gentleman, This Is Spinal Tap, Transylvania 6-5000, The Accidental Tourist, Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills, She-Devil, Batman Forever and Pineapple Express. He is also known for his roles in Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy's mockumentaries, including Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and Mascots.
