Eric Keith Davis, born on May 29, 1962, is an American who has transitioned from a professional baseball career to a role in the veterinary services sector. During his time in Major League Baseball, he was known for his exceptional athletic ability as a center fielder, playing notably for the Cincinnati Reds. Davis made his MLB debut at the age of 21 and spent eight seasons with the Reds, during which he was named to the National League All-Star Team twice. He was recognized for his power and speed, becoming the first player in MLB history to hit three grand slams in one month and the first to reach at least 30 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season. He finished among the top-15 finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player award for five consecutive years from 1986 to 1990. Davis's career included notable achievements such as winning two MLB All-Star selections, three Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, and two Silver Slugger Awards. He played for several teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants, amid challenges from serious injuries. In 1990, he contributed to the Reds winning the World Series in an upset over the Oakland Athletics. After retiring from baseball, Davis resumed his career in 1996 with the Reds and was honored as the comeback player of the year. Despite battling colon cancer, he had an outstanding season in 1998 with the Orioles. Currently, Davis works as a business development representative with Rural Area Veterinary Services and serves as a roving instructor within the Reds organization.
