Douglas Robinson, born on September 30, 1954, is an American academic scholar, translator, and fiction-writer known for his contributions to translation studies. His work encompasses various aspects of human communication and social interaction, including American literature, literary theory, linguistic theory, gender theory, writing theory, and rhetorical theory. Robinson has translated numerous Finnish novels, plays, and monographs into English. Interestingly, his first published novel was written in English but was first published in Finnish translation.
