Don Ross: podcast appearances and interviews

Don Ross, born on 20 February 1934, is an Australian football figure known for his playing career with Footscray in the Victorian Football League. Originally from North Albury in the Ovens & Murray Football League, Ross participated in the 1950 grand final with North Albury. He played 16 VFL senior matches in 1952 and received Footscray's best first year player award. Ross was versatile on the field, primarily playing as a centreman, but also functioning as a ruck-rover or half forward. He was a member of Footscray's 1954 premiership team that defeated Melbourne and won the club's best and fairest award in 1956. After his time in the VFL, Ross returned to North Albury as captain-coach from 1959 to 1962, during which he was runner-up in the Morris Medal for best and fairest in the Ovens & Murray Football League in 1961 and 1962. Following this, he served as captain-coach of Burrumbuttock Football Club in 1963 in the Hume Football League before retiring from playing. Ross's legacy in football continued through his family, as his son Paul Ross also played with Footscray in 1980. In recognition of his contributions, Ross was inducted into the Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame in 2018.
