Dawn Richard: podcast appearances and interviews

Dawn Angeliqué Richard was born on August 5, 1983. She is an American singer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Richard began her career by auditioning for MTV's Making the Band 3 in 2004, during which she formed the girl group Danity Kane. The group signed with Sean Diddy Combs's Bad Boy Records and released three studio albums before their temporary disbandment in 2009. In July of that year, Richard formed the musical trio Diddy Dirty Money with Combs and Kalenna Harper. The group released one album, Last Train to Paris, in 2010, which received critical and commercial success, preceded and followed by two mixtapes before disbanding in 2012. In 2013, she reformed Danity Kane with three of its original members and released the album DK3. During her time with Danity Kane, she pursued a solo career, releasing her debut studio album Been a While in 2005. After leaving Bad Boy Records in 2011, Richard re-emerged as a solo artist performing as DΔWN, later stylized as DAWN. Her subsequent albums, Goldenheart, Blackheart, and Redemption, released in 2013, 2015, and 2016 respectively, explored alternative dance and electronic influences. Her later albums New Breed and Second Line, released in 2019 and 2021, received critical acclaim. In 2018, she co-produced and starred in the erotic action thriller Kinky, which was critically panned.
