David John Teece, born on September 2, 1948, is a New Zealand-born organizational economist based in the United States. He is a professor emeritus in Global Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also serves as the director of the Tusher Center for the Management of Intellectual Capital at the Walter A. Haas School of Business. As of 2024, Teece holds the position of Distinguished Scholar of Strategy and Innovation at the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. He is the executive chairman emeritus and cofounder of Berkeley Research Group, a consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC. His research interests encompass corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, competition policy, and intellectual property. Additionally, Teece is the founding general partner of Pilatus Capital, a venture capital firm, and the executive chairman of Dynamic Experts, a startup applying AI-powered digital twins for strategic advising. Recognized for his contributions to the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and competition, Teece received the Clarivate Laureate status in Economics in 2021.
