David Mandel

David Mandel is the managing partner at the Safe & Together Institute. He is an American writer, actor, director, and producer with a diverse career in television and film. Mandel served as an executive producer and showrunner on the series Veep, and held roles as an executive producer and director on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld. Additionally, he was a writer on Seinfeld during its seventh, eighth, and ninth seasons, and contributed to the screenplay of the 2003 film adaptation of The Cat in the Hat. Mandel co-created Clerks: The Animated Series and was a writer for Saturday Night Live. His work also includes producing and directing the teen comedy EuroTrip and hosting the brief-lived show Dave and Steve’s Video Game Explosion on TBS. Beyond television, Mandel is an author, having co-written Star Wars Art: Ralph McQuarrie, a comprehensive collection of artwork by Ralph McQuarrie. Since October 2020, he has hosted the podcast The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, which explores movie props and collectibles alongside writer Ryan Condal. Mandel attended the Horace Mann School, graduating in 1988, and Harvard University, where he graduated in 1992 and was involved with the Harvard Lampoon. He is Jewish.
