David Lane was an American known for his association with white supremacist organizations. He was a co-founder of The Order, a group involved in various criminal activities related to extremist ideologies. Lane was convicted on multiple charges, including racketeering and conspiracy, which led to a sentence of 190 years in prison. He was also implicated in the civil rights violation of Alan Berg, a Jewish radio talk show host, with prosecutors alleging that Lane acted as the driver in a drive-by shooting connected to the case, although no murder convictions were obtained. During his incarceration at FCI Terre Haute in Indiana, Lane authored numerous white supremacist materials. He is credited with coining the phrase the 'Fourteen Words,' a slogan associated with white supremacy in North America. The Southern Poverty Law Center described him as one of the most influential figures in contemporary white supremacist ideology.
