David Paul Cronenberg, born on March 15, 1943, is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He is recognized as a principal originator of the body horror genre, with his films frequently exploring themes such as visceral bodily transformation, infectious diseases, and the connections between the psychological, physical, and technological aspects of human experience. Cronenberg's body of work includes sci-fi horror films such as Shivers, Scanners, Videodrome, and The Fly, although he has also directed dramas, psychological thrillers, and gangster films.
