Sir Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis, born on April 29, 1957, in London, is an English actor recognized widely as one of the greatest in cinema history. In 2014, he was awarded a knighthood for his services to drama. He began his career on stage, excelling at the National Youth Theatre, before attending the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for three years. Though he received traditional training, he is considered a method actor, known for his dedication to researching his roles. Throughout the early 1980s, he moved between theatre and film, participating in productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company and performing roles such as Romeo Montague and Flute. Notably, he played Hamlet at the National Theatre in London in 1989, but left the stage during a performance after a breakdown.
