Dan Savage: podcast appearances and interviews

Daniel Keenan Savage, born on October 7, 1964, is an American author, media pundit, journalist, and LGBTQ community activist. He is best known for writing Savage Love, a relationship and sex advice column, and hosting the podcast Savage Lovecast. Savage has used his platform to advocate for LGBTQ rights and progressive politics, speaking out against laws restricting pornography and the sale of sex toys. He has also been active in efforts to prevent suicide among LGBTQ youth, notably founding the It Gets Better Project with his husband Terry Miller, whom he married in 2005. Savage's activism includes voicing opposition to anti-LGBTQ legislation and supporting the rights of LGBTQ individuals through various public campaigns and media appearances. In addition to his writing and podcasting, Savage has worked as a theater director and has appeared on numerous television programs and news outlets, including Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Anderson Cooper 360. Born in Chicago to Catholic parents, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting. His career took him from living in West Berlin to Madison, Wisconsin, where he began working as an advice columnist for The Stranger after being recommended by co-founder Tim Keck. Savage has also known for coining the term pegging in 2001. His outspoken contributions to LGBTQ advocacy and rights have garnered both praise and controversy, including promoting the term santorum in response to anti-LGBTQ comments by a former senator and condemning certain religious organizations for their support of anti-LGBTQ legislation.
