Robert Clark Gregg Jr. is an American actor, director, and screenwriter born on April 2, 1962. He is known for his portrayal of Phil Coulson in films and television series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe from 2008 to 2024. Gregg also provided the voice of Coulson in an animated television series and video games. His television work includes roles such as FBI Special Agent Mike Casper on the NBC political drama series The West Wing from 2001 to 2004 and Richard, the ex-husband of Christine Campbell, in the CBS sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine from 2006 to 2010. As a writer and director, Gregg contributed to the horror film What Lies Beneath in 2000, and he wrote and directed the black comedy Choke in 2008 and the comedy-drama Trust Me in 2013.
