Chris Kluwe: podcast appearances and interviews

Christopher James Kluwe is an American writer, social activist, and former professional football player. Born on December 24, 1981, he played as a punter in the National Football League. Kluwe attended UCLA, where he played college football for the Bruins. He entered the NFL in 2005 as an undrafted free agent signing with the Seattle Seahawks. Throughout his career, he played for several teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Oakland Raiders. Kluwe is notably recognized for his eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, during which he set eight team records. Beyond his athletic achievements, Kluwe became an outspoken advocate on social issues such as same-sex marriage and gay rights. His advocacy created tension with coaching staff during his time with the Vikings. After being released by the Vikings following the 2012 season, he signed with the Oakland Raiders for the 2013 season; however, he was subsequently released and did not sign with another NFL team. He retired from professional football in 2013. Following his sports career, Kluwe pursued writing and served as a humor columnist for the sports website Deadspin. In addition to his athletic and writing endeavors, Kluwe has been involved in politics, including a campaign as a candidate for the California State Assembly.
