Chris Hadfield: podcast appearances and interviews

Chris Austin Hadfield is a retired Royal Canadian Air Force colonel, test pilot, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years as a fighter pilot before transitioning to a career in space exploration. Hadfield is notable for being the first Canadian to perform extravehicular activity in outer space, and he has flown two Space Shuttle missions as well as a mission aboard Soyuz TMA-07M to the International Space Station. He also served as the commander of the ISS during Expedition 35, where he was responsible for a crew of five astronauts and oversaw numerous scientific experiments focused on the impacts of low gravity on human biology. His spaceflight experiences include flights on STS-74 in 1995, STS-100 in 2001, and a third mission in December 2012. During his time aboard the ISS, he documented life in space through photography and social media, gained media popularity for his musical performance in space, and participated in interviews on various television programs. Hadfield has authored five books, including his autobiography, which is a bestseller. His early interest in space was inspired by witnessing the Apollo 11 Moon landing as a child. He holds an engineering degree from the Royal Military College, a master's degree in aviation systems from the University of Tennessee Space Institute, and has trained extensively in flying various aircraft types. After retiring in 2013, Hadfield has continued to be a prominent figure in science communication and literature.
