Chris Cunningham, born on 15 October 1970, is an English video artist and music video director who has collaborated with electronic musicians such as Autechre, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, and Björk. Early in his career, he worked as a comic book artist before expanding into creating art installations and directing short films. His distinctive style is characterized by the use of robotics, body horror, and synchronized action with music, often referred to as Mickey mousing. In the mid 2000s, Cunningham also ventured into music production and designed album artwork for various musicians. Additionally, he worked on a movie adaptation of William Gibson's cyberpunk novel Neuromancer, which was never completed.
