Chris Ballew: podcast appearances and interviews

Christopher Ballew, born on May 28, 1965, is an American musician recognized for his role as the lead singer and bassist of the alternative rock group the Presidents of the United States of America. His musical career began with street performances in a duo called Egg during his time in Boston in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He briefly performed with Beck in Los Angeles before returning to Washington and forming the band in 1993. The Presidents of the United States of America remained active until 2015. In 1998, Ballew initiated a solo project called the Giraffes, which evolved into a band the following year. In 2009, he launched Caspar Babypants, a children’s music project through which he released numerous albums. Ballew has also issued music under his own name. His approach to music includes the use of unconventional instruments such as a two-string 'basitar' and performing without distortion pedals, instead relying on the natural distortion of the amplifier. He is married to collage artist Kate Endle.
