Charles Lee Benante, born on November 27, 1962, is an American musician primarily recognized as the drummer for the thrash metal band Anthrax. He is also known for his work with the crossover thrash band Stormtroopers of Death. Benante is credited as one of the pioneers of double bass drumming and has played a significant role in popularizing the blast beat technique. As the main composer for Anthrax, he has contributed to the band's musical direction and has participated in the production of eleven studio albums. In addition to his drumming, Benante occasionally plays guitar. Since 2022, he has been touring with the reunited band Pantera, expanding his performance activities.
