Carl Abrahamsson: podcast appearances and interviews

Karl Gustaf Emanuel Carl Abrahamsson was a Swedish athlete and sports leader born in Södertälje, Sweden. He competed in multiple sports including track and field, bandy, and ice hockey. Abrahamsson participated in the 1928 Winter Olympics where he represented Sweden and won a silver medal. He also played a role in the development of bandy at Södertälje SK, helping to establish its bandy section during the 1920s. As a player, he was recruited to AIK's bandy team and participated in Swedish championship finals against IFK Uppsala in 1915 and 1917. His success extended to track and field, where he secured 28 district championships across various sports and represented Sweden at the Baltic Games in 1914, gaining notable media attention. Abrahamsson's younger brother Erik was also a prominent ice hockey player, and together they influenced Södertälje SK to incorporate ice hockey into their club. In 1927, Abrahamsson scored the winning goal in the Swedish championship final, leading SSK to victory. He was selected for the Swedish national team in 1926 and played in subsequent major international tournaments, including the 1931 World Championships and 1932 European Championships. Recognized for his contributions, he received the Stora Grabbars Märke award. After ending his playing career in 1935, Abrahamsson continued as team captain and coach of Södertälje SK. He also held administrative roles, serving as vice-chairman of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association from 1926 to 1939 and as chairman of SSK from 1927 to 1936. Abrahamsson was married to the writer Aurora Nilsson and passed away from a heart attack on Christmas Day in 1948.
