Carey Gillam: podcast appearances and interviews

Carey Gillam is an American investigative journalist and author. She is currently serving as the managing editor of The New Lede, a news organization funded by the Environmental Working Group. Gillam has a background that includes work as a general assignment reporter for small newspapers in Kansas, followed by employment with American City Business Journals and Thomson Corporation, where she covered banking. She joined Reuters News Agency in 1998, focusing on agriculture, commodities markets, and general news assignments. After leaving Reuters in 2015, Gillam contributed to outlets such as The Guardian, Time, and UnDark. In 2016, she became affiliated with U.S. Right to Know, an investigative research group funded by the Organic Consumers Association. Her work includes the publication of the 2017 book Whitewash, which examines issues related to weed killers, cancer, and scientific integrity, and was awarded the Rachel Carson Book Award in 2018 by the Society of Environmental Journalists. In 2025, Gillam received the One World Media Environmental Reporting Award together with Lighthouse Reports for a series on the propaganda of agrochemical and biotech companies. As an author, Gillam also wrote The Monsanto Papers.
