Brian Eno: podcast appearances and interviews

Brian Eno is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, visual artist, sound designer, author, and political activist born in 1948. He is recognized for his pioneering work in ambient music and electronica, as well as his contributions to rock and pop music. Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music and is regarded as one of the most influential and innovative figures in popular music. He studied painting and experimental music at Ipswich Civic College and Winchester School of Art before joining Roxy Music as its synthesizer player in 1971. After recording two albums with the band, he left in 1973 to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album, Here Come the Warm Jets, was released in 1974, followed by influential minimal music recordings such as Discreet Music and Ambient 1: Music for Airports, which coin the term ambient music. Throughout the 1970s, Eno collaborated with artists including Robert Wyatt, Robert Fripp, Harmonia, Cluster, Harold Budd, David Bowie, John Cale, and David Byrne. He also established himself as a sought-after producer, working with artists like U2, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel, and Talking Heads, among others. His work extends beyond music into sound installations, film, and writing; notable projects include co-developing Oblique Strategies and installing artworks at venues such as the Sydney Opera House and the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank. An advocate for humanitarian causes, Eno engages in political activism and writings on various issues, including climate change, the Gaza Strip, and freedom for Julian Assange. He is a founding member of the Long Now Foundation.
