Brendan Smith, born on February 8, 1989, is a professional ice hockey player affiliated with Cornell as an instructor. Although primarily listed as a defenceman, Smith has also played as a forward during his career. He was drafted 27th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2007 NHL entry draft and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. Most recently, Smith played for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, and he is currently an unrestricted free agent.
