About Bob Kendrick
Bob Kendrick, born on June 15, 1962, is the President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. He previously served as the museum's first Director of Marketing and was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 2009. In 2010, Kendrick left the museum to serve as the Executive Director of the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Kansas City and returned to the NLBM in 2011. Kendrick has developed numerous educational programs and events at the museum, including the Hall of Game, which honors former Major League Baseball players who played in the style of the Negro leagues. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the museum's closure in early 2020, he led the Tipping Your Cap campaign, aimed at honoring early Negro league players and teams who did not receive recognition until Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947. The campaign garnered participation from all former U.S. Presidents. After the museum's provisional reopening in mid-June 2020, Kendrick highlighted the importance of acknowledging both the pain and the successes of African Americans. He has received several honors, including the Mary Lona Diversity Award from the Greater Kansas City Black Chamber of Commerce in 2006, and he was named Citizen of the Year by the Omicron Xi chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. In 2009, the Kansas City Globe listed him among the 100 Most Influential African-Americans in Greater Kansas City, and in 2014 he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
