Bill Nye: podcast appearances and interviews

William Sanford Nye, born on November 27, 1955, in Washington D.C., is an American science communicator, television presenter, and former mechanical engineer. He began his career as a mechanical engineer at Boeing in Seattle, where he invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube used on 747 airplanes. In 1986, Nye transitioned from engineering to entertainment, writing and performing comedy on the local sketch television show Almost Live!, where he often conducted scientific experiments with a humorous approach. He later became widely known for hosting the television program Bill Nye the Science Guy from 1993 to 1998, a show that aimed to educate children and adults about science through high-energy presentations and MTV-style segments. The show achieved critical acclaim, was nominated for 23 Emmy Awards, and won 19, including an award for Nye as Outstanding Performer in Children's Programming. Beyond his television work, Nye has advocated for science as the CEO of The Planetary Society and has authored two bestselling books, Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation and Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World. He has appeared on various television programs, including Dancing with the Stars, The Big Bang Theory, and Inside Amy Schumer, and starred in a documentary about his life and advocacy, Bill Nye: Science Guy. His recent projects include the Netflix series Bill Nye Saves the World, which aired for three seasons, and The End Is Nye, a series that premiered in 2022 on Peacock and Syfy. Nye is recognized as one of America’s most prominent science educators.
