Bernard Allan Federko, born on May 12, 1956, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player known for his career as a centre in the National Hockey League. He played for fourteen seasons from 1976 to 1990, primarily with the St. Louis Blues, after being drafted by both the NHL and WHA in 1976. Federko initially split his time between the minor leagues and the NHL during his first season but established himself as a regular NHL player, remaining in the league for the duration of his career. Throughout his time in the NHL, he demonstrated consistent offensive production, recording ten consecutive seasons with at least 50 assists from 1978 to 1988, a notable achievement in league history. He also achieved six 30-goal seasons and four 100-point seasons, with a career-high 41 goals in the 1983-84 season. Federko reached a significant milestone in 1988 when he became the 22nd player in NHL history to accumulate 1,000 points and was subsequently named team captain of the Blues, becoming only the eighth in the franchise's history. Later in his career, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, where he recorded 57 points in 73 games and played his 1,000th game. Over his NHL career, Federko amassed 1,130 points in 1,000 games, was named to the NHL All-Star Game twice, and had his jersey number retired in 1991. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.
