Mark Andrew Greenway, known as Barney Greenway, was born on July 13, 1969. He is a British extreme metal vocalist best known as the lead singer and primary lyricist for the band Napalm Death. Greenway has also been a member of the bands Extreme Noise Terror and Benediction. His nickname, 'Barney,' originated from a period when he drank alcohol heavily; a friend named Stick, the drummer of Doom, gave him the nickname 'Rubble' due to his clumsy behavior. This evolved into 'Barney Rubble' and eventually 'Barney.' Greenway is recognized for his distinctive vocal style, described by Loudwire's Graham Hartmann as one of the most primordial and imposing voices in extreme metal.
