Audrey Kathleen Hepburn was a British actress and humanitarian known for her contributions to film and fashion. Born into an aristocratic family in Ixelles, Brussels, she spent her childhood in Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. During World War II, she studied ballet and performed to support the resistance. Her early career involved roles in West End musical theatre and minor film appearances. Hepburn gained international recognition with her performance in the romantic comedy Roman Holiday in 1953, which earned her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA Award for the same role. She also received a Tony Award for her performance in Ondine that same year. Her filmography includes notable titles such as Sabrina, Funny Face, The Nun's Story, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charade, and My Fair Lady. Hepburn was recognized as a film and fashion icon and was ranked by the American Film Institute as the third-greatest female screen legend from the Classical Hollywood cinema. Later in her career, she starred in films like Wait Until Dark, and her final performances included Always and the documentary series Gardens of the World with Audrey Hepburn, which earned her an Emmy Award. Beyond her acting career, Hepburn was a dedicated humanitarian, working with UNICEF from 1954 and later serving as a Goodwill Ambassador.
