Ashton Applewhite is a writer and activist based in Brooklyn, New York, born in 1952. She is the author of This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism and is recognized as a leader in the movement to raise awareness of ageism and to dismantle it. Applewhite is a co-founder of the Old School Hub and has been acknowledged by prominent media outlets such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, and National Public Radio as an expert on ageism.
