Antonio Ramon Delgado, born January 28, 1977, is an American attorney and politician currently serving as the vice president of innovation and tech partnerships at Miami-Dade College. He has a notable political history, having served as the lieutenant governor of New York since 2022. Delgado was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York's 19th congressional district from 2019 to 2022. He made history as the first African American and the first person of Latino descent to be elected to Congress from Upstate New York, and as the first Latino to hold statewide office in the state. In May 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul appointed him to fill the vacant position of lieutenant governor of New York. Following his appointment, Delgado resigned from Congress and was sworn in as lieutenant governor. He was subsequently elected to a full term in this role during the general election. Delgado's tenure as lieutenant governor included public disagreements with Governor Hochul, leading to his decision not to seek reelection in 2026. Later that year, he announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor of New York but withdrew from the race in February 2026.
