Andy Thompson: podcast appearances and interviews

Andy Thompson, born in 1970, is a Canadian actor, theatre artist, filmmaker, and teacher. He was born and raised in Chilliwack, British Columbia, and earned a theatre arts diploma in acting from Studio 58 in Vancouver in 1993. Thompson is the founder of The Virtual Stage, a multi-media theatre company, and has contributed to various innovative productions. His work with Electric Company Theatre on the 2008 production of No Exit earned a Jessie Award for Outstanding Production and a Critics' Choice Innovation Award. He co-produced, co-wrote, and performed in the short film The Provider, which won the Bloodshots 48-Hour Horror Filmmaking Competition in 2010 and was selected for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, receiving a Coup de Coeur award. Additionally, his short film Repair Man placed third overall in the 2011 Film Racing Grand Prix, marking it as the top Canadian film in the competition. Thompson's science fiction musical comedy Broken Sex Doll received positive reviews and garnered seven Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nominations including Outstanding Production and Outstanding Direction. He is also known for creating The Zombie Syndrome, an annual, site-specific interactive theatrical event in Vancouver, which involves audience participation via smartphones in a mission to combat a zombie plague. This event has been nominated for several Jessie Awards and its sequel, The Zombie Syndrome: On Death Island, was held on Granville Island. In television, Thompson has appeared in series such as Supernatural, Riverdale, A Million Little Things, Yellowjackets, and Upload, working alongside notable actors including Jared Padalecki, KJ Apa, David Giuntoli, Christina Ricci, and Robbie Amell. The University of the Fraser Valley recognizes him as one of its Top 40 Alumni.
