Andy Hall: podcast appearances and interviews

Andrew Jonathan Hall, born on 30 October 1979 in Spalding, Lincolnshire, England, is a migrant worker, labour rights activist, and researcher. He has been based in South East Asia and is known for his activism and investigative work related to human rights issues. Hall has conducted interviews with workers, some of whom were undocumented migrants, documenting poor working conditions, unlawfully low wages, confiscation of official documents, use of child labour, and excessive overtime. His efforts have led to legal actions against him, including four cases filed by the Natural Fruit Company, accusing him of defamation and computer crimes. Many international human rights organizations, trade unions, UN agencies, and European institutions have condemned these lawsuits as a form of judicial harassment aimed at silencing human rights advocacy. During his trial in July 2016, Finnwatch clarified that the report highlighting alleged abuses was analyzed, written, and published by the NGO Finnwatch, with Hall acting only as a local investigator. Despite this, he was identified in the report as the leader of the Finnwatch investigation in Thailand. His work has drawn significant attention to labour rights issues and the challenges faced by human rights defenders working in complex environments.
