Andrew Albert Christian Edward Mountbatten-Windsor, born on 19 February 1960, is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was formerly known as Prince Andrew and held the title of Duke of York upon his marriage to Sarah Ferguson in 1986. A member of the British royal family, he is the younger brother of King Charles III and was second in the line of succession to the throne at birth, currently eighth as of 2026. Andrew served in the Royal Navy from 1979 to 2001, with active duty as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War; he later became a helicopter instructor and commanded a warship. He and Sarah Ferguson have two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. In 2025, his remaining royal titles and honors were revoked by Charles III, and he moved to private accommodation on the Sandringham estate.
