Andrew Mark Miller, born May 21, 1985, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for several teams including the Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and St. Louis Cardinals. Miller primarily served as a starting pitcher early in his career, but found sustained success as a reliever by utilizing a multi-faceted fastball and slider approach that proved difficult for batters to hit. A left-handed batter and thrower, he is six feet seven inches tall and weighed approximately 205 pounds during his playing career. Miller also represented the United States internationally, notably helping Team USA win its first gold medal at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. His contributions to the Cleveland Indians during their 2016 postseason run earned him the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player award, and he set several postseason strikeout records for relievers. A two-time MLB All-Star and recipient of the AL Reliever of the Year Award, Miller achieved his first major championship with Team USA in 2017. During his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Miller earned awards such as the Baseball America College Player of the Year and the Roger Clemens Award. Selected sixth overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 2006 MLB draft, he quickly debuted in the majors after a brief period in the minors.
