William Andrew Beer (1862–1954) was an English artist recognized for his paintings of racing pigeons. Working under the name Andrew Beer, he specialized in oil paintings that depicted pigeons either singly or in small groups, often portrayed at near life-size in side-on views. As a racing pigeon enthusiast and judge at competitive pigeon shows, Beer closely related to the subject of his work. His paintings frequently included handwritten notes indicating pigeons' names and achievements, providing additional context and detail. Beer maintained a studio in Eastville, Bristol, where he received pigeons, sometimes via train from Stapleton Road Station, to use as models for his art. Beyond his depictions of pigeons, he also created scenes of southern England, which were used as postcards. His artworks are part of the collections at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Pontypridd Museum, and the Radstock, Midsomer Norton & District Museum Society, reflecting his recognition and contribution to local cultural heritage.
