Amy Beth Dziewiontkowski, known professionally as Amy Ryan, is an American actress born on May 3, 1968. She began her professional stage career in 1987 and made her Broadway debut in 1993 as a replacement in the original production of Wendy Wasserstein's The Sisters Rosensweig. She has received multiple Tony Award nominations, including for her performances in Uncle Vanya in 2000, A Streetcar Named Desire in 2005, and Doubt: A Parable in 2024, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Play. Ryan's breakthrough film role was as a troubled single mother in the thriller Gone Baby Gone in 2007, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her filmography also includes You Can Count on Me, Capote, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Changeling, Birdman, Bridge of Spies, The Infiltrator, Beautiful Boy, and Beau Is Afraid. On television, she played Beadie Russell in the HBO crime series The Wire from 2002 to 2008 and Holly Flax in the NBC sitcom The Office from 2008 to 2011.
